Learning Objectives
Attendees will learn and understand:
Types and venues of Human Trafficking in Michigan
and the U.S.
How to identify victims of Human Trafficking (adults
and minors) in the healthcare setting
How to identify the warning signs of human trafficking
How human trafficking occurs in and affects special
populations such as the LGBTQIA2-S
The importance of the collaboration between health
professionals and law enforcement
Resources for reporting suspected victims of human

Course Description
Human Trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery.
Human trafficked sex or labor victims (including children)
are forced by persuasion, threat, or violence into
activities they cannot leave and did not choose. Victims
are frequently seen by some member of a healthcare
team 7 times before any notice or possible identification
of symptoms is made.
Designed for healthcare professionals, this course meets
the criteria for most medical licensing in Michigan.
For this course, 2 CME credits will be offered.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) through the joint providership of Central Michigan University College of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education (CMED OCME) and Underground Railroad. CMED OCME is accredited by the MSMS to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
CMU College of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education designates this live activity for a maximum of
2 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Target Audience: Physicians, Nurses, and all other healthcare Professionals

Optional CME credit offered at $10/credit hour or $20/class. Cash or Check will be accepted upon arrival to class.
